Learner Course

The learner course is the first step in obtaining your NSW motorcycle licence.

You will require your Licence or TfNSW Customer Number when you book your learner course.

You must be at least 16 years and 6 months old to be eligible to attend a learner course.  (You will not be able to obtain your Learner Licence until you are 16 years and 9 months old).

The cost of the learner course includes the use of a motorcycle, helmet and gloves.  You are welcome to bring your own helmet and gloves but are not allowed to bring your own motorcycle.

The learner course is 7 hours of training conducted over 2 days i.e. 3.5 hours each day on consecutive days.

The learner course has been carefully structured to assist new riders to gain basic riding skills

The training course is delivered within the safety of a Rider Training Centre, rather than on public streets.

You will need to wear long pants, a long-sleeved top and shoes (preferably providing ankle protection).

During the course, you will learn basic motorcycle riding skills and road-craft principles which will help you to become a learner rider.

Evening courses are available at Coffs Harbour, Gosford (Central Coast), Lismore and Newcastle.
